Personalized Mobile Phone

Over the decade I have been using mobile devices to view email, I have noticed how users get completely addicted to their devices. I recall walking around with a Nokia flip phone – circa 2000 that I finally gave up for a Motorola phone circa 2004! I still think both vendors offer great phones. Today, I walk around with a Pearl from Blackberry. 2007 marks the first time in a decade that I have accepted a Blackberry as a phone and as an email device. I had both. I get the Gist of Email from various sources (personal and enterprise) sent to me through www.amikamoble.net. I don’t bother synching my Blackberry since I don’t want the 200 or so messages I get a day to come to me mobile. I am finding that this is a good way to separate what I have to absolutely address while away from my Inbox. I am definitely an addict of mobile email and am very fussy about my mobile device. I know people who have steadfastly refused to give up their devices until the keys start to fail. The reason for this besides the form factor, look and feel is the information that these devices have onboard in terms of contacts and now pictures. One way around this is to synch the device to a desktop contact manager and download pictures and crucial information before they get lost altogether when the mobile device finally gives out as all things manufactured tend to do!

Not only do users become attached to specific mobile devices but they can personalize their mobile phones further through the effective use of black and/white lists with services such as that at www.amikamobile.net. Judicious use of filtering words during the sign-on for this service creates a highly personalized mobile phone, thereby increasing the efficacy of the forwarding of critical email alerts and their relevance to every user. Filtering can be amended later by returning to the sign-on page and making changes, additions and/or deletions as necessary.

With a high speed connection, you can play games online, also against other persons and in real time, via gaming websites for example. You can also download music and listen to streaming tunes at lightning speed compared to your old dial up tortoise. The remarkable speed of broadband has made internet use more convenient, and it has improved the quality of many existing online activities such as shopping, banking, downloading audio and video, and gaming. Office networks can be accessed at lightening speed from home or anywhere that provides a broadband connection.

Broadband can be provided from a dedicated line such as cable or ISDN, or over the top of your phone line as ADSL. Now the maximum possible for cable is around 50 mbps and 100 mbps for ADSL. Mbps is short for mega bits per second. Approximately 6 million people in the UK use ADSL with an extra 3 million using a cable connection, meaning 9 million people in the UK have an always-on internet connection.

The technical solutions now allows you to keep your phone lines free so you can make and receive calls while using the Internet. Nowadays, many vendors are offering incentives such as reduced cost for service, free equipment, rebates on installation charges and other perks for a high-speed broadband service.

With a cheap broadband and some very cheap equipment, a headset and a web cam you can now communicate with friends and family all over the world for free. It’s an excellent way of communicating with loved ones around the world. Of course you can also use more features with a cheap broadband and many now can work from home thanks to the excellent software and hardware available.

Many VoIP (voice over internet protocol) service providers are including the ATA at very low cost or even for free in some cases. Usually there are significant cost savings by using broadband phone services that can alleviate the negative effects of service quality.

One attractive selling point of broadband phone service is the low cost of long distance and international calls. If you have a broadband and use Skype you can talk for free all over the world with anyone that is connected to the internet. You can use a service with Skype and call very cheap to ordinary phones in most countries of the world.

There is nothing cooler than a broadband hookup by satellite for your motor home or recreational vehicle. Broadband is affiliated with broadband satellite internet but in areas which are not under the range of the high-speed broadband connection, or where dial-up access is extremely slow, satellite broadband internet is a boon. The broadband satellite internet has provided hope for rural subscribers who are outside the coverage areas of most internet service providers.

There are lots of websites that offer ringtone downloads. However, mobile users face the risk of contracting a trojan or virus if they download ringtones online. In addition, there are other serious risks involved: hidden charges from downloading a ringtone and the possibility that your credit card information will be hacked by fraudulent individuals.

Those Internet sites that require your credit card information should not be trusted that easily to avoid getting your credit card information stolen. Though there are legitimate sites that offer free download of ringtones, these ringtones are usually single tones only. Also, the choices of mobile users are very limited from these websites.

Mobile users have other options to download ringtones. One, they can do it through the Wireless Application Protocol or WAP function of their mobile phone. The WAP function is designed to provide convenience to mobile users. With just a few strokes of the fingertips, a mobile user can surf the Internet.

Usually, a mobile user is charged per connection time to the WAP Internet. It is more costly than surfing for a ringtone through cable or wi-fi internet connections. The surfing and downloading speed is also slower. The convenience of the mobile Internet, on the other hand, can not be disregarded. Safety from virus and trojan attacks is also offered aside from free browsing when the website of the mobile service provider is accessed.

Two, mobile users also have also the option to download ringtones directly from the kiosks of mobile service providers. Mobile kiosks are available in wireless centers for use by mobile users. These kiosks do not only offer downloads of ringtones; wallpapers, themes and other services can be accessed from these stand-alone customer service machines. If mobile users have no idea of a particular service, a customer service representative is readily available to assist and explain the service.

Mobile users can also download ringtones from other mobile users through the infra-red or bluetooth wireless connection. Infra-red wireless connection is shorter in range compared to bluetooth. Also, infra-red requires necessary alignment of the source mobile phone to the recipient mobile phone for transfer. The bluetooth, on the other hand, is a newer technology that has a wider range and there is no necessary alignment to be done.

As newer functions and capabilities of mobile phones are introduced, we can be assured of more convenience in store for mobile user. However, even if the technology gets more advanced, trojan, virus and hack attacks will never disappear. So, even there are lots of options available for mobile user to be able to download ringtones online, extra caution should be observed at all times.

The availability of “broadband” internet has accelerated this entire process. Users are now connecting with others at speeds that were unimaginable even a couple of years ago.

High speed internet connections are better than dial-up ones. This is because the speed at which the internet can be accessed is significantly higher. As a matter of fact, the speed of data transmission is more than 200,000 bits per second in one direction. This is possible due to the incorporation of the latest transmission technologies. The text, images and sound are converted into digital bits before being transmitted.

High speed internet connections are quite invaluable for both professional as well as casual users. One can attach personal computers to these connections and make the most of some very unique services. It is possible, for instance, to use the high speed broadband connections to make long distance calls at very economical rates.
